Mandala Hat and Mitts Kit

Interwoven cables criss-cross on the surface of this slouchy hat and matching mitts. The stitch pattern is both written and charted, and neatly decreases at the crown of the hat, creating a fractal design reminiscent of circular mandala patterns. A pair of lampworked glass buttons add the perfect finishing touch to the hat band.

This is an intermediate knitting project. You should already know how to cast on, knit, and purl. Experience with cables or knitting in the round would be helpful.

Kit includes one skein of Sincere Sheep Cormo Fingering naturally dyed U.S. grown cormo wool yarn (500 yards), two Becky Caraco Designs glass buttons, and the Mandala Hat and Mandala Mitts patterns in both printed format and PDF download code. Note: buttons vary slightly from batch to batch and may not be exactly as pictured. All items are packaged in a bag as shown, with the pattern folded to fit inside the bag.

These items are not included, but will be needed to complete the project: US 4 (3.5mm) and US 6 (4mm) 16″ circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge and 2 sizes smaller, US 6 (4mm) double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge, US size 1 (2.25mm) and 2 (2.75mm) double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge and one size smaller, stitch markers, cable needle, yarn needle, sewing needle and thread in color similar to yarn.
